Hospital Policies

Appointment Policy

To allow time for all patients and scheduled surgical procedures, we operate primarily by appointment.
Emergency cases shall always receive top priority, which is why occasional appointment delay is inevitable.
Please realize that we make a sincere attempt to see each client on time.

Patient Arrival Policy

For your protection, and that of others, we require that all pets be in an appropriate carrier, or on a leash and properly controlled while in the waiting area and exam rooms.

Payment Policy

We accept cash, Debit, Mastercard, Visa, Discover, and American Express. We only accept personal checks from established clients.

We require full payment at the time that services are rendered or when your pet is discharged.

We do not offer payment plans.

We encourage clients to discuss charges before services are rendered and to ask for an estimate.

If your pet is admitted to the hospital, you will be required to leave a deposit of 50% of the estimated amount.

This does not apply to admissions for routine day surgeries (spay and neuter) or dental cleanings.

If, during your pet's hospitalization, you and the veterinarian agree that additional care is needed beyond what was anticipated at the time of the original estimate, you may be asked to make an additional deposit toward your final bill.

We understand that when a pet becomes ill, unexpected expense occurs as well. If you think you may have a problem paying your account in full, please tell us prior to discharge. You may be able to set up a payment plan through CareCredit. CareCredit is a firm specializing in medical care payment plans. CareCredit is similar to a department store credit card in that it provides easier approval than Mastercard or Visa, low monthly payments, and an interest-free period for certain balances. Application for CareCredit can be made at our clinic or on-line. For your convenience, a link to CareCredit is provided... just go to 'Links' on the navigation bar and select 'CareCredit'.

Please contact us if you wish to pay with CareCredt, as we only accept this form of payment in certain circumstances.

Euthanasia Policy

The veterinarians at Compassion Veterinary Clinic do not practice convenience euthanasia.
We will not euthanise a healthy animal that is potentially adoptable.

A sick animal will only be euthanised if it has an un-treatable condition, or an expensively treatable condition that is beyond the means of the owner and adoption is not a possibility.

We do require an exam/consultation prior to euthanasia for animals we have not seen recently.

On-Line Pharmacies

We do not authorize any mail-order medications purchased through on-line pharmacies for at least 3 very important reasons:

1. What we do know:
A majority of these medications are NOT obtained from the actual drug manufacturers.
In fact, the manufacturers of these exact meds refuse to acknowledge, guarantee or back them in any way.

There are inumerable law suits involving many of these mail order companies.
Between manufacturer & seller, clients & seller, and veterinarians & seller. Many of these involve govermental regulations.

Many of these mail order companies are NOT registered or properly licensed.
An unregistered status is not subject to the fedural regulation and testing that assures the proper handling and distribution of meds.

2. What we don't know:
If they were not obtained from the drug manufacturer then where do the medications come from?
Are they from disreputable veterinarians that buy in bulk for discounted prices and then sell them to these companies illegally?
Are they expired meds that have been re-packaged?
Are they meds that were authorized for sale in another country but not authorized for sale in the United States?
Are they meds the manufacturer refused to take back due to improper handling, and so were instead sold to a mail order company
to recoup the loss?

Neither of these situations may be the case, but without knowing where they come from we do not know how, where or why they were sold to this mail order company.

Under what conditions were the medications stored and transported?
Many medications are derived from or contain animal based components or other components that may be unstable under certain environmental conditions.

3. What we want to achieve:
The utmost precaution to ensure that the medications we prescribe are safe and effective for your pet's condition.
